Welcome to the Barossa to Tamworth Charity Bike Ride blog site.
In August 2000, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, a registered charity organisation, celebrates its 10th Anniversary in the New England north West region of NSW, Australia.
To celebrate this livesaving Service's work and anniversary a group of riders and support crew will celebrate the start of this achievement year by conducting a Charity Bike Ride from South Australia's Barossa Valley back to Tamworth, in north western NSW.
We are hoping to raise in excess of $40,000 from the event and we would like you to help us achieve this milestone.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
Through this blog we will regularly update you on registered participants, will provide you with regular updates on the Bike Ride and other developments in the New England North West as well as a progressive fundraising total for the event.

Starting in the Barossa Valley the ride will travel through South Australia, Victoria and NSW before heading home to Tamworth. For more information phone 02 6766 6641 or visit www.rescuehelicopter.com.au Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service is a community owned and operated aeromedical search and rescue service serving the Hunter Central Coast Mid North Coast New England and North West regions. It is one of six helicopter services contracted by NSW Health to perform emergency services in the New South Wales community. Each year the Helicopter Service performs over 1200 missions rescuing people from accident scenes and transporting critically ill patients from small rural hospitals to large tertiary hospitals primarily the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle and the Base Hospital in Tamworth. The Helicopter Service provides a free service to over one million people covering a region of 132 000 square kilometres. Two helicopters are based in Newcastle and one in Tamworth.
